I don't know about you, but there is truly something very satisfying about biting into a turkey club sandwich. It's got all the classics: layers of sliced turkey, bacon, tomato, crunchy lettuce, and a good schmear of mayo, all stacked together.
Whether you're making it for a weekend lunch or a no-fuss no-cooking dinner, this turkey club sando checks all the boxes-simple, flavorful, and fresh.

I have always loved a good BLT, and love a BLT with avocado, but there's just something about a club sandwich that sends me. It's the layers, the classic flavors of a BLT, but double stacked, added in turkey, and that mayo? Duh.

Recipe at a Glance
- Cook Time - Aside from cooking the bacon in the oven, this recipe takes minimal time to put together.
- Cook Level - This recipe is nothing more than just assembling a sandwich together, slicing and serving. It's very easy and entirely uncomplicated.
- Taste - Savory, creamy, butter, and tender. All the flavors that a turkey club sandwich should have.
- Best Served With - This stacked sandwich is great with a variety of side salads like my shaved Brussels sprout salad, watermelon and feta salad, or a classic caprese pesto pasta salad.
Trusted Tips and Key Reminders
- Bake the Bacon! You do not need to make a gigantic mess of your kitchen by frying the bacon or adding it to the microwave. Simply bake the bacon at 400º for 14 minutes. Pat with a paper towel to absorb some of the fat and oils, and it's good to go.
- Use fresh bread. I love using sourdough bread for this as it's sturdy, fresh, and gives a great chew. No matter the bread you use, make sure it's fresh!
- Slice the tomatoes thin. I've had so many sandwiches that flop because the tomato moves around too much. I find slicing it as thin as possible helps things stay in place.
- Layer the ingredients so that everything stays in the bread as you take bites of it. The hardest part about eating a club sandwich is that everything slides around and falls out. One tip I've learned is to add the lettuce, then they tomato, then the turkey and so on.

The Ingredient List
- Bread - I love using sourdough in these types of stacked sandwiches as it's sturdy and doesn't get very soggy.
- Lettuce - Using romaine is pretty standard in club sandwiches, just a few slices are needed.
- Tomato - Beefsteak or celebrity tomatoes, really any large tomato that can be sliced thin and layered is perfect.
- Bacon - I prefer to use applewood smoked bacon for the flavor, but any type of bacon works. You could also use turkey bacon or meat-free bacon.
- Mayonnaise - Mayo is a very classic spread in a club or in a BLT. You could always opt for an aioli too.
- Turkey - Whether it's cracked pepper mill, honey maple, freshly roasted, it's a great protein addition and gives more layers and texture.

Step 1: Slice the tomatoes into ¼" thick slices, then set aside.

Step 2: On a slice of bread, spread a half a tablespoon of mayonnaise, then add the lettuce.

Step 3: To the lettuce, layer two slices of tomato.

Step 4: On top of the tomato, add two to three slices of turkey breast.

Step 5: Last, rip one slice of bacon in half and add to the top of the turkey.

Step 6: Layer on another slice of bread, then repeat the layers of mayo, lettuce, tomato, turkey, and bacon to make a secondary layer. Close up the sandwich by spreading mayo on a final slice of bread, then top the sandwich. Slice and serve.
Simple Swaps and Substitutions
- Swap out the regular bacon for turkey bacon or plant-based bacon.
- You can toast the bread if you want an added crunch!
- Use a dairy-free mayonnaise instead of a traditional mayo.
- Feel free to substitute the sliced turkey for sliced chicken, roast beef, or keep it full of veggies with grilled eggplant and zucchini.
Frequently Asked Questions
This of it like an assembly line. Gather your ingredients (aka "mise en place") while the bacon cooks in the oven. Having everything in reach will make assembling these turkey club sandwiches way easier than running around the kitchen trying to find everything. This also includes having any cutting boards, knives, etc. available too.
I would suggest to not prep more than you actually want to eat the day of. Otherwise, if you were to save the sandwich, it runs the risk of getting soggy. Totally doable as I've done it before, but I would suggest storing all the ingredients separately to avoid the bread and turkey getting mushy.
Add some sliced avocado, sun dried tomatoes, a different type of spread like an aioli or pesto!
