Curious about going non-alcoholic? Think of this as your new favorite way to enjoy a fancy cocktail without the alcohol. My mudslide mocktail recipe is high in protein thanks to greek yogurt and a scoop of chocolate protein powder. This mudslide tastes just like the real deal, sans the bailey's and kahlua while not tasting chalky. Mudslides never tasted so good!

I am always down for a good and easy green smoothie recipe, and equally love a good mocktail. This mudslide drink is great as a high protein shake for breakfast or post-workout, but also equally as good as a little treat after dinner.

Trusted Tips and Key Reminders
- Use a milk frother to make the swirls of chocolate in the glass. It is a LOT easier to do this instead of attempting to add the swirl with the chocolate syrup from the container itself.
- Make sure you add in a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness and bring out the chocolate and coffee flavors.
- To make this thicker, you can add in an additional cup of ice. To think it out, use a little more milk.
The Main Ingredients

- Cold Coffee - Adds bold coffee flavor keeping the mocktail energizing without being too overpowering. You could also use decaf coffee or a double espresso.
- Greek Yogurt - The creamy backbone of the drink, packed with protein and giving that classic mudslide thickness without ice cream. I love using greek yogurt in my recipes, especially in my orange and cranberry muffins for added moistness.
- Maple Syrup - A natural sweetener that balances the bitterness of coffee and cocoa while adding a subtle depth of flavor.
- Salt - Just a pinch enhances all the flavors, making the chocolate and coffee taste richer and more robust.
- Chocolate Protein Powder - The main protein boost, adding structure, richness, and that dessert-like chocolate flavor while keeping the mocktail filling.
- Chocolate Syrup - Brings classic mudslide vibes with a chocolatey and smooth finish.
- Milk - Helps blend everything smoothly while adding additional protein and creaminess. Using a dairy or a dairy-free alternative is fine here!
- Ice Cubes - Ice creates a thick, frosty texture that makes this mocktail feel more like a treat.

Recipe Swaps and Substitutions
- Swap out the regular milk for your favorite dairy-free choice.
- Use a dairy-free greek yogurt instead of the regular whole fat yogurt
- If you'd prefer to use a plant-based chocolate protein, that will work too.
- Use honey instead of maple syrup for the touch of sweetness.
How to make a high protein mudslide mocktail

Step 1: Swirl a little chocolate syrup inside your serving glass, then set aside.

Step 2: Blend coffee, milk, Greek yogurt, protein powder, chocolate syrup, salt, and ice in a blender until smooth. Pour into your prepared glass and finish with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
Mistakes I've Made (to avoid!)
- Don't add to much protein powder even if you are tempted to! The protein powder will take over the flavor of the drink and while we love added protein, it can taste chalky. This recipe calls for just one scoop of chocolate protein powder.
- Adding too much liquid (or not enough) will alter the taste and texture pretty significantly, so I would suggest to make sure you follow the breakdown of measurements precisely.
- Just like making a classic Italian tiramisu recipe, you want the coffee to be COLD. Don't be like me an add warm coffee to the blender. It'll melt the ice. Not a good idea.

Mudslide Mocktail FAQs
I don't necessarily recommend making a larger batch of this to prep ahead of time. Since this recipe doesn't take too long, it's best to make it fresh the day of.
There's nothing holding you back if you prefer a little booze in here, but I would stick to just a little baileys and vodka. If you are going to add the bailey's, omit the milk.
You can add shaved chocolate swirls on top, crushed pecans, a drizzle of nutella instead of traditional chocolate, or a dusting of cinnamon.
