Easy Turkey Wraps
Wraps are always a go-to for lunch, no matter working from home, an office, a school, or a handheld while on an airplane (what’s that?). I’ll never get sick of ordering a wrap with a side of sweet potato fries from the local diner, what’s not to love? I have a few favorite orders such as a classic chicken cutlet with roasted peppers and mozzarella, or this one: cracked peppermill turkey with muenster cheese and avocado. These easy turkey wraps are just that, easy and very quick to make in a pinch. I also have fallen back in love with flour tortillas thanks to my friends at One Mighty Mill.
One Mighty Mill is a family-run company focused on quality, organic milling of flour. You can read all about them here; what i’ll say about their products is they are HIGH quality. A small back story: I had major inflammation and overgrowth of bacteria in my stomach from years of yo-yo dieting which caused health issues in my mid 20’s. Part of what aided this issue is the consumption of processed, refined products such as wheat, flour, protein powders, and sugar. I gave up eating lots of foods, but yearned to eat them again. In this healing journey, I came across dozens of different brands that have now become my staples. Recently, I found One Mighty Mill’s tortillas, and when I read what’s in them, I was incredibly pleased and thankful. Their tortillas are beyond tasty, thick, and are the perfect size for these turkey wraps.
Now, back to the wraps. I love cracked peppermill turkey from Boars Head because I love the cracked peppercorns on the sides and the freshness of the turkey. My grandmother introduced me to muenster cheese years ago and so that’s become a staple in my wraps. Adding the avocado and a schmear of mayo in the wrap add extra taste and texture. A fun party trick for holding wraps together is with a toothpick, as you can see from the photos. This way, when laying the wraps down flat, they don’t unroll or come apart. Win!
- 2 small flour tortillas – you can visit One Mighty Mill and use code MORGAN15 for 15% off your order (I highly recommend the variety pack!)
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 6 slices of turkey
- 4 slices of muenster (or cheese of choice!)
- 4 slices of avocado
- 3 stalks of romaine, sliced in half
To assemble, I like to start by warming up the tortilla over a low flame on the stove or for 11 seconds in the microwave. Next, I lay down the cheese, add the mayonnaise, layer in two pieces of lettuce, and top it with the turkey and avocado. I fold in the bottom of the wrap, fold in one side and roll it to the other. I take a toothpick and thread it through both ends to seal it up. You can pair this turkey wrap with pretzels (OMM has yummy ones), kettle cooked chips, or a lighter snack of carrots and hummus. Here are some other yummy lunch ideas:
