Sautéed Garlic Green Beans

One of the best things we can do for ourselves is to get plenty of sunshine, exercise or move our bodies regularly, have good sleep patterns, and eat our vegetables. Of course, we’re not perfect, we’re human. We love what we love, and we are absolutely ALLOWED to indulge in foods that make us feel good. Sometimes that’s a piece of chocolate, or a slice of Tiramisu (one of my favorite desserts). Other times, that’s eating a large salad or a heaping plate of sautéed veggies. I love almost all vegetables, but one of the most underrated (in my opinion) veggies is a green bean. I love these sautéed garlic green beans for so many reasons, one of them being that they are insanely versatile.

When grocery shopping, I tend to buy more produce than any other category. I use an app called Any List to help create my grocery list and it’s a life saver. It organizes all of the foods I am shopping for by category and it’s a F R E E app! Nevertheless, every now and again I’ll throw a random vegetable or fruit on the list, and lately it’s been green beans. You can make them by sautéing, roasting, grilling, steaming, or eating them raw in a salad! This recipe for sautéed garlic green beans could not be any easier, and is perfect for lunch, dinner, snack, and meal prep.

I started by rinsing the green beans with some vinegar and water. I laid them on a paper towel and patted them dry. To my pan, I added two tablespoons of avocado oil and threw the green beans in. I did an initial toss to coat the beans and then I let them sit for a few minutes, approximately 4-5. Then, I chopped three cloves of garlic and threw them in with the beans. I covered my pan and lowered the flame to medium low, tossing the beans occasionally for 10 minutes. This sautéed garlic green bean recipe is a perfect addition to chicken, shrimp, a grass-fed steak, or as is.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb green beans trimmed and rinsed
  • 3 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil

Instructions

  1. In a large sauté pan, add the avocado oil (or oil of choice) and bring the pan to a medium heat.

  2. Rinse and pat dry the green beans and add them to the pan. Toss to coat the green beans.

  3. Let the green beans sit and cook for approximately four to five minutes.

  4. Finely chop the garlic cloves and add to the pan. Toss to combine and cover.

  5. Continue to mix the green beans for the next 10 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and the beans are soft.

  6. Serve with your favorite entrée or eat as is!
