Red Bliss Mash

Are you ready for one of the easiest side dishes known to mankind? I love mashed potatoes. They pair well with many different meals such as meatballs, chicken dishes, meatloaf, steaks, and they can be seasoned and enhanced with a variety of different flavors such as herbs (rosemary, thyme, basil), spices (paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder), and made creamy with dairy or non-dairy options. For this recipe, all it takes is a pot of boiling water, a tablespoon of butter, 1/4 cup of milk, garlic powder, and fresh herbs.

Here’s what you’ll need:

California Olive Ranch
  • 3 medium red bliss potatoes, sliced into quarters
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme

Set a pot of water on the stove and bring it to a rolling boil. Add the potatoes and let them cook for 40-45 minutes or until fork tender. Take the potatoes out of the water and add to a large mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer or a potato masher, begin to mash or whisk the potatoes in order to break them apart. Add in the milk, butter, herbs, and garlic powder. Whisk or mash until the ingredients are fully incorporated. Serve warm with your favorite entrée and enjoy!
